Orthodontics is not something that you can learn in a day! You need to follow the concepts accurately and wait for the desired results until you go for the next step. Also it’s equally important that when you treat cases it should be under supervision of an expert.
1. Short Vs Long: Don’t go for short term orthodontic courses as you may face difficulties in treatment planning and prognosis because of insufficient exposure to different types of cases. Also you might not get results as you may not develop the required judgment on how much torque or pressure is required for correcting the defect. So ultimately, it’s not only the patient who suffers but also your reputation gets spoiled.
2. Models Vs Live Patients: Can you get the judgment of torque and pressure on Wax models? Of course not! That’s the reason one should always go for workshop where you get a chance to treat live patients.
3. Fees Vs Mentor: Commonly, we prefer courses that add fewer burdens to our pockets but that should not be your criteria to choose Ortho Workshop. It is important to make sure that the mentor under whom you are getting trained has an experience of treating at least 10,000 orthodontic cases or 10 years of Orthodontic practice experience. It’s always better to learn from someone who has failed himself because only such mentors can guide you on what not to do and avoid failure. And it’s needless to say that more the experience more will be the course fees.
4. Mentor Attitude: Go for the mentor who believes in updating his own knowledge by attending advanced courses and workshops not only in Orthodontics but in other branches which can be directly or indirectly related to orthodontics. It’s only if your mentor keeps on learning new things, you will come to know about latest techniques and concepts in orthodontics.
5. Post Workshop Assistance: Even after completing your workshop, it’s not that you will never face difficulty or won’t need inputs from expert. Practicing orthodontics by general dentists is not supported by the respective society in India. In such scenario, your only source for discussing problems would be your mentor so make sure that your mentor can be available for assistance even years after completing your workshop.
At Dentevents we host only Quality Dental Workshops that match our criteria. If you wish to join any of our courses then feel free to call us on +91 88-O5-11-OO-OO. In case if you want to share your views then please comment in the comment box below.
